Robert Mitchell

"A devoted father, loving husband, and cherished friend whose kindness touched countless lives"

Celebrating a Life Well Lived

Robert James Mitchell was born on March 15, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to Mary and James Mitchell. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, he developed a deep love for nature and the outdoors that would stay with him throughout his life.

After graduating from Portland State University with a degree in engineering, Robert began a distinguished 35-year career at Boeing, where he was respected not only for his technical expertise but for his mentorship of younger engineers. His colleagues often remarked that he had a rare ability to make complex problems seem simple.

Robert married his beloved wife Sarah in 1975, and together they raised three wonderful children: Michael, Elizabeth, and David. He was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren who adored their "Papa Bob." Family gatherings at the Mitchell household were legendary, filled with laughter, home-cooked meals, and Robert's famous stories.

Beyond his professional life, Robert was an avid gardener, a skilled woodworker, and a passionate volunteer at the local food bank. He was known for his warm smile, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his legendary barbecue skills that brought the whole neighborhood together every Fourth of July.

Robert's legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his family, the community he helped build, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and kindness. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

I still remember the afternoon walks we shared, when the world felt simple and beautiful. You had this incredible gift for making everyone around you feel truly seen. I will carry those conversations in my heart forever.

A mentor, a friend, and one of the kindest souls I've ever known. The way you guided our team with patience and wisdom — that legacy lives on in every person you touched. Rest in peace.

Words cannot express how much you meant to our family. Every holiday, every Sunday dinner — your laughter was the melody that held us all together. We miss you more than words can say.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. A light in our parish community — always the first to volunteer, always the last to leave. I will keep them in my daily prayers.

May the angels lead them into paradise. A faithful servant and a blessing to all who knew them. Their kindness was a daily sermon more eloquent than any I could ever deliver.
